Communications Committee Recommends
Social Media Policy
READ THIS, and you won't be surprised
  • Public access FB page: Candidate posts are not permitted prior to the primary except a pinned post by the administrators to list primary candidates.  Only the RCDP events are posted.  Access limited to the Chair and the Corresponding Secretary.  The ability to comment should be deleted as per the motion during the last EC meeting.
  • Private FB closed group:  Before the primary, candidates and their campaign members may post by submitting to the Chair and the Corresponding Secretary.  The comments for these candidate posts will be turned off.   All RCDP events are posted.  Access limited to the Chair and the Corresponding Secretary.   Code of conduct – supporters of one campaign are not permitted to post on another’s campaign.
  • Website – same as public FB page.
  • Twitter – same as public FB page.  The Twitter account should mirror the public FB page.
  • The RCDP must maintain neutrality prior to the primaries and/or after last day to get into the primary.
  • Deletions on any social media must be documented with rationale and timeline via screenshot or other method, and stored as a permanent record.  Administrators of these social media will monitor for negative comments, notify the individual(s) when an issue arises, and if it continues, delete comments and/or take other appropriate action.  The administrators of the closed group will regularly notify members about these processes.
