Dr. Hope Oliver
Dr. Hope Oliver is a Memphis‐born leader, educator, and Rutherford County Commissioner (District 1) who has spent over 30 years using her expertise in health, education, and civic leadership to drive impact. With advanced degrees in Dental Hygiene, Curriculum & Instruction, and a Doctorate in Education & Leadership, she blends clinical work with shaping educational standards, teaching at both high school and collegiate levels, and serving on important accreditation and specialty boards. As a nonprofit preschool director and early childhood advocate, she has dedicated herself to supporting families, mothers, and children in her community in meaningful, hands-on ways.
Dr. Oliver is known not only for her professional credentials but also for speaking out. Recently, during a public safety committee meeting, she called Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) “a terrorist organization,” sparking public controversy, a rebuke from the Rutherford County Mayor, and strong reactions from both supporters and critics. In doing so, she has positioned herself as a passionate voice for immigrant rights, calling for transparency, accountability, and compassion in how local governments interact with federal immigration enforcement programs.

Cathy Carrillo
Cathy Carrillo is a Nashville-based community leader, doula, mother, and cultural connector. For over a decade, she has worked in nonprofit and grassroots spaces, centering diverse voices to promote dignity, peace, safety, and equity for all people in Nashville and Davidson County. She brings over a decade of experience in grassroots organizing and advocacy, dedicated to amplifying diverse voices and fostering equity.
Carrillo is also the Co-Director/Founder of The ReMIX Tennessee, a grassroots Latino community organization created in response to immigration enforcement in Nashville. She has worked at the intersections of reproductive justice, immigrant rights, mobility justice, criminal defense, and youth organizing.

Jermaine Cole
Jermaine Cole Jr is a 20 year old Community Organizer. He was born and raised in Antioch, TN, and now attends Fisk University. Cole become involved in politics when he was 16 and lost his grandmother to the healthcare system. Ever since, he has been fighting for Justice for the people of Nashville and the State of Tennessee.
Cole is the recipient of the 2025 Three Star Award given to him by the Tennessee Democratic Party at the TNDP Three Star Dinner. He also serves as the Young Democrats of America National Committee Member for Tennessee’s Middle Grand Division.
